Typhoon Damrey

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

We just received word that a typhoon had hit Hainan Island early Monday morning, killing 6 to 25 people-there are conflicting reports- and knocking out power to most of the island. There was flooding and we have heard that the orphanage lost some windows in the storm. We have heard that all the children are alright and that the orphanage director is staying on site until the situation stabilizes. I have e-mailed our guide, Stephanie, and I hope to hear from her soon to tell me that she and her family are alright. Power continues to be an issue from news reports, so I don’t know when she will be able to respond. Please pray for the people of Ella Grace’s first home, especially the orphanage and Stephanie and her family. Pray that they are safe and that the children aren’t afraid. Pray that their needs will be met. Pray for the families who are waiting to go get their sons and daughters from the Haikou Social Welfare Institute.

Baby Dedication

We are so excited to have Ella Grace home with us finally. On October 9, 2005 at 10:30 am, we will humbly dedicate her to the Lord at Christ Community Church in Montgomery. We would love to have you all join us for the Worship service that day. You will find a link to the CCC web-site on this page and it provides driving directions if you need them. Hope to see you there.

Please take a moment to visit the link to the right for Half the Sky. They are a charitable organization who is responsible for all the nicely painted colors at Ella Grace’s orphanage and wonderful toys. They are also the reason we got a journal of her activities and many photos of her before we got her. We have just discovered that she is the little girl pictured holding the horse at the end of the play table in the picture on their web-site! It’s a small world after all…

You guys probably already know this, but if you go to “continue reading” at the bottom of our pictures. you can see the picture bigger and there are further comments on some.

Also, would you guys please pray for wellness in our house? Frank was queezy and ran a fever all day on Sunday, he felt really bad. Well, last night it was Anne Louise’s turn, except she actually got sick. Poor baby, you know how she feels about getting sick, she was a trooper. I held my breath all night waitng on the other two, but they made it through the night. Please pray the will continue to be healthy.
